I have developed this website to be an interactive hub for people who enjoy writing – whether it be poetry, prose, short stories, limericks – whatever!

Poetry is now enjoying a resurgence of interest, and is no longer considered to be the preserve of an academic elite.

In keeping with this development, Openon2 is a celebration of ordinary everyday people’s poetry. Amateur writing, if you like. Everybody has something unique to say and should be encouraged to do so!

Many people have at least a few poems or stories up their sleeves that they’ve written at different times in their lives. Sometimes they feel shy to bring them out and share them with others. I am happy to be able to provide a creative hub where such endeavours can be published online, to be read and enjoyed by everyone.

Some of the writers featured here have independently published their work, many have not. When it comes to publishing, I think Indie Publishing is an innovative way to go. There are some excellent independent organizations that are very helpful. Check out Alliance of Independent Authors ( ALLi )

I have included a short story by Barry Dickins who is a well-known Australian playwright. Some friends and I attend a Creative Writing class and Barry is our tutor. He gives so much encouragement to his students and is a fun person to be around – a real raconteur.
